The junior section of Globe is full of energy. The squad consists of 40 athletes from the ages of 14 to 18. There is a mixture of abilities, from learners and novices all the way through to members of the Great Britain under-18 squad.

2017 was the best season ever for Globe Juniors.

The whole squad were very involved in a variety of regattas and head rows. There were 18 events in total around the country, from Nottingham to Maidstone.

Two quad crews qualified for Henley Royal Regatta. The girls’ crew qualified for the Diamond Jubilee Cup. The boys’ crew competed in the Fawley Cup, reaching the quarter finals. The girls also qualified for Henley Women's Regatta.

Three of the junior squad (Callum, Jake and Siobhan) represented Great Britain in the Coupe de la Jeunesse. Jake won a bronze medal and Callum a silver and bronze. Jake has gone on to further GB camps and selection trials (Callum has gone on to university, and will be representing Cambridge in the Goldie crew in the Boat Race this year. Siobhan is studying for her A levels).

2018 has started well with six of the squad being selected for GB trials. Only three (Jake, Julia and Grace) were able to attend, as the other three were unwell or injured. All three did very well. In the singles, Jake came 7th, Julia 30th and Grace 24th. In the doubles Jake came 2nd, Julia 12th and Grace 7th.  This is all very encouraging. Jake's results put him in strong contention for a place in the Junior World squad this year.

The next event for the squad will be Maidstone Small Boats Head on 4th March.

The Globe Junior squad is partnered with London Youth Rowing, and all water training takes place on a Saturday morning at the Royal Albert Dock, E16 2QT.
