In preparation for the upcoming Head of the River, and Women's Head of the River races in March, both the senior men's and women's squads of Globe Rowing club had a successful day of racing in West London at the Quintin Head Race. Run by Quintin Boat Club, Quintin Head is a 4.5km race on the Thames.

The Mens' VIII competed in their first race of the year, with a combination of recent Learn2Row graduates and more experienced squad members. The Women's VIII included contenders for Women's Head of the River 1st and 2nd VIIIs, who were particularly pleased to get out on the river in a trial version of their brand new 8+ boat which will shortly be arriving at its new home in Greenwich. Many members of these crews were racing on the Thames for the first time, so it was a great experience to get a feel for the course and the distance.
